Never afraid of confrontations with his adversaries, President Ruto has branded himself as someone who has never lost in any elections he has took part in.

The former Eldoret North member of parliament has risen through the ranks to become the most powerful politician in the country. He initially began his stint in the legislature back in 1997 when he was first elected as an MP. He later served as the first Deputy President of Kenya for ten years.

In the 2022 polls, William Ruto ran against the state backed Raila Odinga flooring him and gaining the clear majorities in both the Senate and National Assembly. He did not stop there, he further made pacts with political parties to retain a clear majority in both houses.

In 2027, President Ruto would be seeking a second and final term against a backdrop of political pressure that is continually mounting. From matters to do with taxation, unemployment among the youth, economy and other issues, president Ruto is expected to have a tough time campaigning for his second term.

Politics

The elephant in the room is whether President Ruto would be able to win back the mount Kenya voters after the fallout with his former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua who was impeached and has continued to undermine the President potentially locking him out of the vote rich mountain.

To win the second term, President Ruto requires to form new alliances to replace the potential dent that might be caused by the former impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

President Ruto has made a secret pact with his former adversary Raila Odinga who has his eyes trained on the AU seat. This new found brotherhood has seen a number of Raila's allies brought into government through appointments to the cabinet.

Political pundits have intimated that the alliance might remain intact through to the 2027 polls. However, it is not clear whether this would hold if by any chance Baba fails to clinch the AU seat.

President Ruto has also trained his eyes on the vote rich Western region. He has in that respect awarded Musalia Mudavadi with the Prime Cabinet Secretary position while Moses Wetangula bagged the National Assembly speaker position, both very influential seats.

President Ruto is expected to use these new found brotherhood as a possibility to ensure that he is reelected.
