Tragic Night Out: Man Dies During Drinking Contest in Aldai, Nandi County

A night of fun among four friends at a local bar in Aldai Constituency, Nandi County, ended tragically after one of them died during an alcohol drinking contest.

According to witnesses, the group had visited an entertainment spot in Magundoi village, where they decided to compete in a drinking challenge. The rules were simple, each participant had to finish three bottles of alcohol consecutively without taking water, and whoever failed to complete the task would foot the entire bill.

However, the friendly competition took a deadly turn during the third round when Duncan Kipkemboi, 31, suddenly collapsed and died on the spot. His three friends, including his brother, were rushed to Nandi Hills County Hospital for emergency treatment.

Confirming the incident, Nandi East Sub-County Police Commander Jeremiah Leariwallah said the bar owner has been arrested to assist police with investigations.

A representative from Nandi Hills County Hospital reported that two of the survivors have since been discharged, while one remains admitted and is undergoing treatment.

Authorities have cautioned residents against engaging in risky drinking games that could lead to loss of life.
