The much anticipated Kalenjin awards finally happened last night. It was graced by contestors and fans drawn from all over Kenya. Notably, the event which ran deep into the night was well attended.
The awards, which were on its first edition had over twenty categories and were held at the Park Place Hotel Nairobi.
Biggest winners
The biggest winners were Australian based Kenyan, Alfred Koech and Bomet based humanitarian Kenda Vin who bagged two awards each. Alfred bagged the diaspora and humanitarian award while Kenda vin bagged the humanitarian and the outstanding category. Kalenjins abroad won the diaspora awards, organization category. Cheploch Divers search and rescue team won the humanitarian, organization award.

Politicians
Governor Stephen Sang won the governor of the year award while Senator Aaron Cheruiyot of Kericho who also doubles up as the majority leader senate bagged the senator of the year award. CPA Bernard Cheruiyot won the leadership award, individual category.
Environment
Laura Sang of Nandi won the Environmentalist of the year award while Green world Kenya won the organization category, environment.

Sports
Vincent Mutai of Bomet won the sports category individual while Landson Foundation, based in Nandi won the Sports category, organization.
Media
Gerald Bitok won the media category, individual while Victor Rono speaks won the organization category.

Dr. Mercy Korir won in the individual category while Tenwek hospital won the organization category

Irene Cheptap Oret Age won in the individual category while MyTravel international won in the organization category.

The awards according to the organizers were aimed at appreciating notable Kalenjin members and organizations globally.
The organizers of the event also thanked the partners that came on board to make the event a success.
