Allan Kosgey meets Ruto, what exactly were they planning?

Allan Kosgey, his Wife and Dp William Ruto

Tongues have been left wagging after Lawyer Allan Kosgey, a Nandi gubernatorial aspirant paid a courtesy call to deputy president William Ruto.

In what came as a surprise, the lawyer accompanied by his wife made an impromptu visit to the second in command at his Karen residence, Nairobi.

Kosgey, a 47 year old lawyer with a successful practice in Nairobi is seeking to unseat governor Sang who is also a lawyer by profession.

The father of three has in the recent past made inroads in the county with the sole aim of endearing himself to the electorate ahead of the 2022 polls which are promising to be a bruising battle between the two lawyers.

2022 DILEMMA

As the 2022 polls are nearing, aspirants have been burning the midnight oil to come up with the right strategies to floor their opponents.

Kosgey has not been left behind in the vote hunting mission. Over time, he has steadily earned himself a name in the Nandi political sphere as a notable aspirant who can outdo governor Sang in 2022.

His interactions with the electorate have intensified over time. He is always attending functions held within the Nandi county borders. His hand is always felt through the various contributions he has done to help ailing individuals seeking further medical care abroad.

WILLIAM RUTO FACTOR

William Ruto enjoys a fanatical following amongst his supporters in the larger Rift Valley region. A majority of aspirants who intend to vie in the upcoming general elections are expected to seek their seats using a party sponsored by the DP.

He is however expected to take a neutral stand concerning the grassroots leaders that are to be nominated to take part in the general elections.

Some have viewed the Ruto-Allan meeting as an endorsement on his bid. This is however not the case.

According to an insider who is privy to the meeting, the whole thing was unplanned.

"It was an impromptu meeting, nothing had been planned."

The meeting comes barely a few days after former Industrialization minister Henry Kosgey rallied Nandi and the entire Kalenjins to support Deputy President's 2022 presidential bid.

Henry Kosgey, a veteran politician is also the father to Allan Kosgey. He unsuccessfully vied for the Nandi gubernatorial seat in 2017. He opted to take a back seat and focus on his doctorate.
