Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called out Governor Stephen Sang over the firing of 384 casual labourers.
The Senator questioned the motive of the governor at a time when families were undergoing tremendous stress over the Covid-19 pandemic which has rendered most people jobless.
The Senator stated that he would not agree to the governor's intent of recruiting other people from outside Nandi, yet he had failed to pay the casual workers for over ten months.
"Through the Labour committee at the Senate, we asked the governor to revoke the notice he had issued on firing of the casual employees." He said.
ADDITIONAL FUNDS
Cherargei disclosed that Nandi stood to gain 1.6Billion shillings from the recently approved formula at the Senate.
"We fought for the one man one shilling formula and Nandi now gained 1.6Billion. I am asking the governor to use these funds prudently." He said.
The Senator also cautioned governors against misuse of public funds.
"I call upon the governors to ensure that there is prudent use of the public funds." He stated.
He also called upon EACC and DCI to rein in on rogue governors who were hell bent on enriching themselves from the public coffers.
DISSOLUTION OF PARLIAMENT
The senator stated that he was ready to seek a new mandate from the electorate if the President heed to Maraga's advisory. He however stated that should the president decide to do that, then there should be a general elections for all the elective seats including the presidency.
