Too Young to Retire? Governor Stephen Sang’s 2027 Aldai MP Bid Sparks Political Buzz

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire — and all indications point to a possible political comeback for Governor Stephen Sang in 2027.

Sources familiar with the political dynamics reveal that Sang is expected to contest for the Aldai Constituency Member of Parliament seat.

In a recent poll conducted by Maskani, Governor Sang was neck and neck with the incumbent, Hon. Maryanne Kitany. According to the opinion polls, Sang currently leads with 35.5% of the vote, while Kitany closely follows at 32.4%. Over 2,500 respondents participated in the survey.

Sang, who is serving his final term as Nandi Governor, made history in 2017 when he was elected as Kenya’s youngest governor at just 32 years old. By the time he leaves office in 2027, he will be only 42 — a relatively young age to retire from active politics in Kenya.

Renowned for his political scheming and strategic maneuvers, Sang’s entry into Aldai politics is expected to significantly shake up the constituency’s political landscape, where MP Maryanne Kitany currently enjoys strong support.
