Kapsimotwa Gardens

Located in Nandi Hills – a highland area of towering green hills and huge tea plantations at the edge of the Great Rift Valley, Kapsimotwa Gardens is the epitome of serenity and relaxation.

The colourful gardens are covered by over 100 species of red, pink, purple, yellow, and white flowers dotted with serene pools and dams.

The well manicured gardens which boast of a number of both exotic and indigenous trees such as wild bananas, fountain, Nandi Flame, Nandi gold, Coco palm, Royal palm and bamboo trees is also a bird's paradise.

There are a number of bird species such as weaver birds, pigeons and doves, cuckoos and touracos, perching birds and monarch fly catchers.

The Kapsimotwa gardens is scenic and peaceful thus ideal for picnics, team building, family outings or school trips.

On one end, there is a one-storey grass-thatched structure where visitors hang out as they prepare their food and grill meat.

With the rainy season starting around March, the beauty of this part of Kenya is unmatched. The contrast between the blue sky and the greenery is magical. And in clear days you can spot the breathtaking Lake Victoria in the neighbouring Kisumu city after a short walk to the highest point.

How to get to Kapsimotwa gardens.

Use google maps and head to Nandi Hills town which is approximately 60 km from Eldoret. Once in Nandi Hills, ask around for the Koitalel Mausoleum then from there head to the tea plantations up on the dirt road. The gardens are located at the farm on the topmost part of the hill.
