On 1st July 2023, a 43 year old Muranga woman Esther Ruguru was seen boarding a black probox car. According to witnesses, whe was seen hugging the driver of the vehicle, a man who came out of the car to open the passenger door. The car was seen driving towards Nyeri. This is the last time she was seen.

Ruguru, a mother of three has been widowed since 2015 and runs a hotel in Murang’a to make ends meet.
According to police, she is belived to be involved with six men. Two of the men are DCI officers in Murang’a, a mechanic, a businessman and two civil servants in the health sector.
Police believe that her disappearance has everything to do with her relationship especially with the 2 DCI officers and the mechanic.
Her family members reported her missing at Kiriaini police station. The family claims that thr police have been slow in investigating the disappearance of their kin.
