The exercise dubbed "make the world green" was organised by Alpha foundation CBO which is based in Nandi and operates in the North Rift region. The foundation's main objectives include; healthcare, leadership and governance and climate change issues.

According to the Foundation's CEO, Michael Kibor, yesterday's exercise was in line with the foundation's objective of climate conservation.

"The exercise was a big success, it is in line with what we do at our foundation, we are greatly indebted to all those who showed up for the exercise. They made it a success." Said Mr. Kibor.

The exercise began with a two kilometers walk to Mosoriot town where the teams and schools involved took part in a clean up exercise of the town.

Anita Soina

Anita Soina hails from Kajiado County. She's been vocal about conservation matters. The green Mp, as she calls herself was quite overwhelmed with the reception she received in Nandi.

According to the conservationist, she has been a spirited fighter for the environment ever since she was a teen. She formed her group, Spice Warriors Environment group.

Despite being a communication graduate from the Multi Media University, her engagements have majorly been based on environmental conservation, a deviation from what she studied in school.

Anita also runs the Anita Soina foundation which is based in Kajiado and works to see girls from the local community stay in school.

During her speech in the event, Anita was impressed by a pupil from the Malel Junior Secondary School who narrated an environmental conservation poem and emphasised on the need to plant more trees. She adopted the pupil and offered to pay his school fees and all costs involved in his education.

County government of Nandi

The Nandi county government was one of the sponsors of the event. The governor was represented by officials from the Environment department, including the CEC incharge of Environment Dr. Philemon Bureti and the Chief officer in the department Jonah Tireito.
