The Nandi County Executive spent a whooping Ksh. 319.6 Million in the 2018/2019 financial year. This is according to a document tabled by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu.

The amount spent on domestic travel was in excess of the budgeted vote by Ksh. 96 Million. The item had been budgeted at Ksh. 223 Million. According to the auditor, the excess amount spent was in violation since the money was not approved by the county assembly.

The County government was also accused of irregularly paying Ksh. 2.8 Million to MCAs as travel allowances to 41 members who had travelled to Mombasa for a workshop. This was an irregularity since the county assembly has its own budgetary allocations for travel and subsistence allowances.

The county has also been put on the spotlight for delayed implementation of development programs. The county had only delivered on one project out of more than 400 worth Ksh. 1.39 Billion in the 2018/2019 financial year.

Gathungu also raised a red flag over a huge balance of unpaid bills amounting to Ksh. 1.6 Billion.

She also questioned the existence of about 725 county employees who were not in the integrated personnel and payroll database. the said workers had received payments amounting to Ksh. 261 million during the period as salaries.

Sang has in the recent past been on the spotlight with a number of Nandi leaders accusing him of being incompetent in his work.
