We need Ksh. 1 billion for face masks, Magoha says

Education CS Prof. Magoha has revealed that it will cost the tax payers ksh. 1Billion to acquire masks for schools.

The Cabinet Secretary was speaking during a virtual conference with governors. He also stated that for schools to be reopened, they would need adequate supply of face masks and running water.

In his address, he revealed that upto 50-60% of school going children would not be able to afford the masks.

The CS also revealed that the concept of social distance was an impossibility in most public schools as the infrastructure within could not sustain that new development.

Prof. Magoha recently stated that the reopening of schools would be dependent  on the statistical data from the ministry of health.

"We will be relying on the statistics from the health ministry, if the rate of infections go down, we would be forced to go back to normal." He said.

President Kenyatta yesterday lauded the efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country. He noted that indeed the Covid-19 curve was flattening.

He was however quick to caution Kenyans against returning to normal. He noted that the measures that were taken by the National government in invoking the public health act bore fruits.
