ODM resolves to impeach Governor Obado


The ODM party has resolved to impeach embattled Migori governor Okoth Obado.  This is according to a statement by the ODM chair John Mbadi.


According to the party, 37 out of the 41 members of County Assembly (MCA) have resolved to have the governor impeached.

"Due to corruption charges leveled against Governor Okoth Obado, and the decision to bar him from accessing his office, the party in consultation with county MCAs has resolved to have a motion of impeachment against the governor to be initiated immediately and have the deputy governor take over." Read a statement on Twitter.

The governor is facing a sh. 73.4 Million graft case and was released on Monday 31, 2020 on a Ksh. 8.75 Million cash bail or a Ksh. 20 Million bond.


He has been barred by the court from accessing his county office untill the case is heard and determined.
