Governor Mandago and an impression of the 64 stadium
The Uasin Gishu county government will be building 64 stadium at an appropriate cost of Ksh. 1 Billion, the governor has revealed.
Through a post on his Facebook page, the governor revealed that the designing of the stadium had been completed and that the tender for its construction would be floated soon.
"The ultra Modern sports facility will cost Ksh. 1B and will have a sitting capacity of more than 22,000 people, spacious offices, parking slots, a FIFA standard football pitch and an approved IAAF running track." He said.
The governor also disclosed that the ground breaking ceremony will be in October or November this year and that the construction will take about 16 to 18 months.
Official unveiling
The stadium is expected to be unveiled in early 2022. According to the governor, the facility will also have a hall of fame that will preserve the county's sporting history.
Uasin Gishu county is known as the home of champion owing to the fact that moat athletes in Kenya have settled there. Despite the athletic prowess, most of the athletes have to relocate to ELGEIYO MARAKWET for high altitude training camps offered there.
