Being a second term governor in a region where politicians can barely make it due to the political heat and competition is not an easy fit. However, the governor has had a smooth sail and one would not hear of any political bickering concerning his administration.
In 2017 when he was seeking his re-election, the governor was the only one in the whole country who got endorsed by two opposing sides. He had the support of the Jubilee Administration and NASA coalition members. This gave his sail a smooth ride into the second term. He had to battle it out with politician BUZEKI, then an ally of the Deputy President William Ruto.

What has kept Mandago on the right side of history is probably his ability to speak his mind. He never shies from telling off his competitors and political detractors.
When he goes to a political function, the governor knows his audience quite well. That probably explains why he has made several trips to Luo Nyanza, a region perceived to be hostile towards William Ruto. Whenever he visits the region, the governor is always on a charm offensive asking the region to return the favor they accorded Raila Odinga back in 2007 when he was seeking to become the country's president.

By the time he will be leaving office in 2022, Jackson Mandago will be only 48 years of age, which is quite a young age for any politician to retire. This has raised questions on his next move after the two term requirement for all governors.
Will he be seeking to get back to the political arena as a legislator in one of the Uasin Gishu constituencies? Will he e waiting for an appointive position from the next government? This are questions that have been lingering on the minds of Uasin Gishu and Nandi where the governor enjoys massive support.
In an interview with one of the local dailies, the governor stated that he would be a full time peace worker post 2022. He also stated that he would not be vying for any elective post within the county.
