Alfred Koech; This is why I am running for the Nandi Senate seat

Australian based athlete/businessman Alfred Koech, popularly known as Alfred Koech-Sergent has declared that he will be running for the Nandi senate seat in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking to Nandi News on phone, the senatorial aspirant stated that he was getting into the race to serve the people of Nandi on an oversight role.

"I feel that the people of Nandi haven't been well represented by the various leaders they elected. The current leadership in the assembly and the senate have failed on their oversight roles," he said.

"Part of my focus would also entail pushing for the completion of government projects within the county. It is absurd that years down the line, some projects are still incomplete."he added.

Alfred who is also the founder of Landson Foundation, a community based organization that helps young athletes who are talented but lack the financial muscle to pursue their education stated that he would use his international links to help young people pursue their education globally.

Lansdson Foundation has began setting up a training camp in Nandi. Once complete, the camp will have a bed capacity of 25 beds, an ICT center and a conference facility. This is according to its Executive Director,  Alfred Koech. According to him, the foundation took the initiative to set up the said camp as a means to cut its overhead costs. The foundation sponsors athletes as part of its objectives.

"We are setting up this camp in Mosoriot, Nandi County. We are doing this to cut on costs of paying for camps for our in-house athletes. When the camp is up and running, we shall be able to take in more athletes." Said Koech.

"My focus would also be on talent and education. I will use my international links to ensure that all our talented young athletes who lack the financial muscle to further their education are linked to sponsors." he added.

HIS BACKGROUND

Alfred is a graduate from the Edith Cowan University in Australia where he holds a bachelor's in Community development.

He comes from Mosoriot in Nandi County. His strong presence in the social media has quickly elevated him into a respectable member of the society. He uses his social media prowess to highlight plight of various people through his show.

Mr. Koech is seeking to unseat the incumbent Senator Samson Cherargei who is expected to defend his seat in the 2022 polls.
