The two leaders have disagreed on various issues pertaining to the management of the county government of Nandi.
Kiptoo, has on several occasions accused Sang of incompetence and negligence in the management of resources.
In an interview with Nandi News back in March, the speaker accused Sang of failure to pay moneys owed to contractors which had led to a number of stalled projects.

"In my Assembly, I do not have any pending bills. It is therefore a surprise that governor Sang has accumulated bills worth billions of shillings." Said Kiptoo.
The speaker went further to question why governor Sang was currently launching projects that were officiated back in the financial year 2017/2018. He said that this showed the governor had failed in prudent management and implementation of projects.

"We have on several occasions come to the aid of the Executive. Every time they have brought a supplementary budget to the Assembly, we have gone out of our way to ensure that the budget sails through. We have supported them through appropriation of funds without fail." He said.
KIPTOO'S IMPEACHMENT MOTION
In a document seen by Nandi News, MCAs are collecting signatures for the impeachment of Speaker Joshua Kiptoo. Currently, 25 out of the 39 members of the assembly have appended their signatures on the document. It is also not clear as to whom will be tabling the motion against the speaker at the Assembly.

According to sources who could not go on record due to the sensitivity of the matter, the impeachment motion against the speaker could be as a result of his political stand against the governor.
"It is political," said a source familiar with the development.
However, the motion is yet to be tabled at the Assembly.
POLITICAL AMBITIONS
Kiptoo is said to be eyeing the Nandi gubernatorial seat in 2022. He has however denied these claims previously stating that it was only the electorate that would decide the seat he is to vie for.
Sang's supporters have however downplayed Kiptoo's political ambitions as inconsequential. ''He is a non starter'" claimed one of Sang's supporters.
The 2022 gubernatorial race in Nandi is attracting several political players. Top on the list is Lawyer Allan Kosgey, Senator Kiprotich Cherargei (rumoured), Speaker Joshua Kiptoo, Antipas Tirop, former governor Dr. Cleophas Lagat among other formidable contenders.
With rising political temperatures in the country, it is expected that the same will be felt in the counties as politicians flex their muscles ahead of the 2022 general elections.
