The Senate committee that was set up to iron out division of revenue formula has been unable to agree on a viable formula.
This is after the committee co-chaired by Wetangula and Sakaja which has been sitting for the past two weeks came up with two reports.
According to reports, both Senator Sakaja and Wetangula tabled different reports to the house leadership.
Each side stuck to the positions that had been taken initially. Senators from counties that were set to lose chose to back the Mithika linturi formula while Senators from gaining counties chose to back the government formula.
Impasse
The Senate has for about nine sittings failed to come up with an acceptable outcome. This has had a negative impact on counties as National treasury continues withholding revenues for counties.
Most counties have not paid July, August salaries for their employees and if the situation remains the same, then the county operations could grind to a halt.
The committee is said to be seeking an audience with the President to try to unlock the impasse.
