Arrest anyone of us and there will be no session tomorrow; Says Murkomen

Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen

Former Majority Leader at the Senate Kipchumba Murkomen has alleged that there is a plot to arrest Senators opposed to the revenue sharing formula being fronted by the government.

In a tweet, the ELGEIYO MARAKWET senator revealed an alleged plot to arrest Sen. Dr. Steve Ltumbesi of Samburu.

Murkomen who appears to be the defacto leader of "team Kenya" which is comprised of a group of senators opposed to the government's formula had yesterday shared photos of a meeting with some of his colleagues who are opposed to the formula.

In the photo, the senator captioned it "it has entered itself" (Imeingiana) which can be loosely translated to mean that they have  come to an agreement.

In about eight sessions, the senate has failed to agree on a formula to divide revenue among counties. The government side was proposing a one man one vote one shilling formula which has been rejected by a majority of senators.

Majority whip at the Senate, Irungu Kang'ata has accused Murkomen and his team of sabotage. He wondered why a section of Senators from Rift Valley were opposed to the formula yet their counties stood to gain substantial amounts.

Senate is expected to have a sitting tomorrow to deliberate and debate on the divisive issue.
