According to the latest poll results, Kosgey secured 64.4% of the votes, placing him well ahead of his closest rival, Hon. Julius Melly, the long-serving MP for Tinderet Constituency, who garnered 23%. Melly is currently serving his third term in Parliament.
Kosgey, a lawyer by profession and the current Chairperson of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI), has intensified his grassroots engagements across the county. He previously vied for the UDA gubernatorial ticket in 2022 but lost to the incumbent during the primaries.
Sources close to Kosgey's campaign indicate that his team is leaving nothing to chance. "He’s working around the clock to ensure the mistakes made in 2022 do not happen again," one ally revealed.
Kosgey has also been making notable inroads with key stakeholder groups in Nandi. He recently attended the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Annual General Meeting, where he pledged to work closely with the education sector, signaling an effort to build a broader coalition of support.
Senate Race Sees Surprise Twist
The senatorial race in Nandi has taken an unexpected turn following the emergence of Joshua Kiptoo, a former County Assembly Speaker. In the August poll, Kiptoo led with 35.5%, surpassing incumbent Senator Samson Cherargei, who came second with 29.2%. Robinson Chirchir, popularly known as Malaria, followed with 17%.
This marks a significant shift, as Senator Cherargei has previously dominated all opinion polls by considerable margins.
Cynthia Muge Leads Woman Rep Race
The Woman Representative race remains competitive but seems to favor Hon. Cynthia Muge, who is defending her seat. According to the poll, Muge leads with 43.2%, followed by Hon. Ruth Bungei with 27.5%.
Notably, Cynthia Muge, who had previously featured prominently in earlier polls for the gubernatorial seat was not included in this month’s poll for that position. The reasons for her omission remain unclear.
