On 24th August 2025, Hon. Ngeno joined hundreds of fans and musicians at the Bomet Green Stadium for the 5th anniversary of celebrated Kalenjin artiste Vicky Brilliance. The event marked a significant milestone in Vicky’s journey, showcasing how far she has come since winning the Best Upcoming Artiste Award during the first edition of the Kalenjin Music Awards. By the second edition, she had already cemented her name as one of the best female artistes in the region.
Hon. Ngeno congratulated her for the remarkable growth, noting that her success story mirrors the potential of many other young Kalenjin artistes if given the right support and platforms.
Founder of the Kalenjin Music Awards
As the founder of the Kalenjin Music Awards, which is now gearing up for its third edition, Ngeno has positioned himself as a true champion of Kalenjin culture and heritage. According to the festival’s official page, the awards aim to, celebrate Kalenjin culture through music and arts, uplift and empower local talent, preserve the Kalenjin heritage and showcase the unique sounds of the community.
This year’s edition is scheduled to take place at the Eldoret Sports Club, further cementing Eldoret as the cultural hub of the Rift Valley.
Pushing for Structured Growth of the Creative Industry
In July, Hon. Ngeno, together with a host of Rift Valley musicians, announced his support for the formation of a Sacco and a unified association for artistes. He emphasized that structured representation is vital for ensuring fair compensation, more opportunities, and long-term sustainability in the industry.
Rising Political and Cultural Influence
Beyond politics, the Emurua Dikir MP is increasingly being recognized as the Kalenjin Kingpin, a title often linked to the person expected to step into President William Ruto’s shoes as the community’s de facto leader in the future. His deep involvement in music, arts, and community initiatives has endeared him not just to artistes but also to their fans across the Rift Valley.
From attending concerts, anniversaries, and cultural festivals, to creating platforms that empower musicians, Hon. Johana Ngeno continues to shape himself as a bridge between politics, culture, and the youth.
