From hunting in the village to CEO Wezesha Youth Initiative, Paul Victor did not know what awaits him on his journey to success.

According to Victor, he lost his father at a tender age and was raised by their mother who worked as a small scale farmer, with the help of relatives. With the little they had, they had to make effort just like most of their peers in the village.

"I grew up in Siaya in a rural setting. Our lives changed when we lost our dad at a tender age and had to survive. Being a first born, I've had to put up extra effort in everything I do," he said.

"I went through education and finally managed to get admitted into the Technical University of Kenya for an undergraduate program," said Victor.

WEZESHA YOUTH INITIATIVE

According to Victor, the initiative was born three years ago. He stated that the initiative came about while he was still pursuing his education at the Technical University of Kenya where he graduated with an undergraduate in Bachelor's of commerce.

"I was active in student politics while at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK). It is during my years there that the initiative was born. I wanted a platform that could make it easier for me to reach out to the youth," he said.

The initiative was initially started by 24 members and has in time grown to about 300 members drawn from various parts of the country.

FUNDING

The initiative has partnered with various Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations to fund its programs. Some of its partners include the Ministry of Health, Nairobi County Government and NGOs.

The initiative also fundraises through recruitment drives, donations and engaging well wishers.

CHALLENGES

According to Victor, the initiative is sometimes faced with challenges ranging from financial ones to differences and disunity among the many members of the organization.

"Just like any other organization, we face challenges ranging from financial ones to internal politics. We cannot avoid politics because it is what defines every aspect of human beings. We can only encourage young people to support our agenda without divisions along ethnic or political lines," said Victor.

THE GOALS OF THE INITIATIVE

The organization is looking forward to reach out to as many youths as possible by the year 2025. According to the CEO, the goal is achievable even though the process seems quite involving.

"We are aiming to reach out to as many youth as possible by the year 2025. The process of reaching out is quite a challenge but we believe that it is possible," he said.

HOW TO REACH THEM

The organization can be found on its website www.wezeshakenya.org or through their Facebook page Wezesha Youth Initiative

Their offices are located in Nairobi, Tango House, Room 12. You can also reach out to the CEO via Facebook on Paul Victor or via mobile phone 0715104210.
