Nandi County police boss Samson Ole Kina said rescue efforts have been hindered by raging floods and appealed to the family to be patient as rescue teams continue to monitor the situation.
He has further advised members of the public to keep off the dam area during rainy seasons in order to avert such accidents in the future.
During the past, a lot of accidents have happened at the scenic falls.
In October 30, 2018, a university student by the name Cynthia Jeptoo drowned while celebrating her 22nd birthday.
In 2017, a high school student from Uasin Gishu county also drowned in the dam during a picnic.
In June 2013, a Moi University student who was in the company of 25 others also drowned at the site while in June 6 the same year, the body of a 21-year-old William Onyango was recovered from the dam.
A local village elder, Jonathan Too, who has been living near the falls for the past 35 years says more than 200 people have lost their lives at Chepkiit Waterfalls.
Residents now want the Nandi County Government to take charge of the area and improve security for visitors by fencing the falls, deploying security officers and hiring tour guides to manage the waterfall area
