Senator Murkomen
ELGEIYO MARAKWET senator Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen has hinted that the committee that was set to unlock the revenue stalemate has almost come to an agreement.
In a statement through his facebook page, the legislator who is seen as the defacto leader of "team Kenya" a faction opposed to the revenue sharing formula being fronted by the government, stated that the negotiations were almost complete.
"It has been long but we are bringing this revenue negotiations to a close very soon." He posted.
The revenue formula being fronted by the government has elicited a great deal of interests. It has divided the senate, defying party lines.
Senators from different political affiliations have joined hands. A great example is how Sen. Murkomen has joined hands with sen. Mutula Kilonzo, Malala and Sakaja.
On the other hand, Senators Cherargei and Kihika have joined hands with Irungu Kangata who played a crucial role in their ouster from parliamentary positions.
Senators from regions which were to lose some colossal amounts of money especially from Ukambani, North Eastern and the Coast joined hands defying their party positions.
Interestingly, Sen. Murkomen, Sakaja, Cheruiyot, Langat and Malala come from regions that were set to benefit from the formulas yet they stood with senators from regions set to lose.
Since his ouster as the Leader of Majority, the Elgeiyo Marakwet senator has been vocal especially on this matter.
Murkomen is now seen as a leader of the 'oppressed' counties.
