Governor Sang Leads Distribution of 159 Wheelchairs to Boost Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Nandi
NANDI COUNTY, KENYA; Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to inclusive development after overseeing the distribution of 159 wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the county.

The wheelchairs were donated through a collaborative partnership between the County Government of Nandi, the University of Eastern Africa Baraton (UEAB), and Chair the Love Foundation. The initiative aims to improve mobility, restore dignity, and enhance the quality of life for beneficiaries drawn from different parts of the county.
Speaking during the distribution exercise at UEAB, Governor Sang said the intervention forms part of the county government's broader efforts to ensure that vulnerable members of society are not left behind in development programs.
"Through this partnership, we are bringing renewed hope, dignity, and mobility to Persons with Disabilities across Nandi County. We want every resident, regardless of their physical condition, to have an opportunity to participate fully in social and economic activities," said the governor.
The distribution comes at a time when Governor Sang has been actively defending his administration's development record, citing investments in healthcare, road infrastructure, agriculture, water projects, education support programs, and social protection initiatives. The governor has repeatedly maintained that his government remains focused on delivering tangible benefits to residents while ensuring that development reaches all sectors of society.

According to county officials, improved mobility will enable beneficiaries to access education, healthcare services, business opportunities, and community activities more easily.
Governor Sang praised the contribution of Chair the Love Foundation and UEAB, noting that partnerships between government institutions and development organizations are critical in addressing challenges facing vulnerable groups.
"We extend our sincere gratitude to Chair the Love Foundation and the University of Eastern Africa Baraton for their invaluable support, generosity, and dedication to this noble cause. Their partnership continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many families in Nandi County," he said.
The governor further pledged that his administration would continue working closely with stakeholders to expand support programs targeting Persons with Disabilities. He highlighted plans to strengthen access to assistive devices, healthcare services, education opportunities, and economic empowerment initiatives.
The event brought together county leaders, education stakeholders, and development partners. Among those present were Chair the Love Foundation Director Augie Bullitt, UEAB Vice Chancellor Professor Jackson Msafiri, Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Mitei Cheruiyot, and Members of County Assembly Hon. Liza Chepkemboi and Hon. Milkah Chumba.
Residents and beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, describing it as a life-changing intervention that will improve independence and ease movement for many people living with disabilities.
The latest donation adds to a series of social welfare programs undertaken by the county government as it seeks to build a more inclusive society where all residents can contribute to and benefit from development.
