Family Appeals for Help as Kenyan Woman Battles Multiple Illnesses in Thailand

A Kenyan family is appealing for urgent financial and logistical support to help save the life of Mercy Linda, who is currently fighting for her life in a hospital in Thailand after developing severe health complications.

Mercy Linda currently admitted at a hospital in Thailand

Mercy traveled to Thailand in April last year in search of employment opportunities. However, according to her family, she began experiencing recurring health challenges shortly after her arrival and has been in and out of hospital while trying to continue working.

Her condition reportedly worsened significantly in April this year when she was diagnosed with acute pneumonia, a serious respiratory illness that severely affected her lungs. She was admitted to Fang Hospital, where she received treatment and was placed on oxygen support due to breathing difficulties.

Family members say Mercy has now been on oxygen support for nearly a month. In addition to pneumonia, she is also battling anemia and kidney failure, further complicating her medical condition.

As her health deteriorated, doctors recommended that she be transferred to a larger facility capable of providing specialized treatment. She was subsequently moved to Nakhonping Hospital in Chiang Mai, where she is currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and continues to receive round-the-clock medical care.

The prolonged hospitalization has placed a heavy financial burden on her family. According to relatives, medical bills have already surpassed Ksh 1 million and continue to rise as she remains under intensive care.

"We have done everything within our means and managed to settle part of the hospital expenses, but the costs have become overwhelming. We are now appealing to well-wishers and relevant authorities to help us save Mercy's life," a family representative said.

The family is also seeking intervention from the Kenyan government and other stakeholders to explore the possibility of facilitating Mercy's return home once her condition stabilizes, so that she can continue treatment closer to her loved ones.

They are calling on friends, well-wishers, community leaders, and members of the Kenyan diaspora to support Mercy during what they describe as one of the most difficult periods their family has faced.

Anyone willing to assist is encouraged to reach out to the family through her mother Grace Kosgey on 0723873664 or the uncle Stanley Kosgey on 0728092395 and contribute towards her medical care and hospital expenses.

As Mercy continues her fight for recovery in a foreign country, her family remains hopeful that the generosity of well-wishers will help ease the burden and give her a chance to return home and rebuild her health.
