Eliud Kipchoge: I mourned the late Kiptum for only 15 minutes

World Marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has spoken on the issue surrounding the death of the late Kelvin Kiptum. Speaking to Nation media reporters, the athlete has unravelled the events that followed the sudden demise of his fellow athlete.

The superstar further stated that the sudden death of his colleague had an emotional and psychological toll on him.

"I mourned Kiptum for only 15 minutes. Instead of mourning him, I found out that people were saying that I was the one who killed him," he explained.

When the late athlete was involved in an accident back in February this year, social media was awash with propaganda that Eliud was involved in the sudden death of the young upcoming world champion.

Kipchoge further revealed that with the quick spreading of the  propaganda, his family, his property and himself were now the target of threats. 

He further revealed that it was disappointing that the information was also being spread by people close to him including fellow training mates.
