Give Murkomen a break, he was caught offguard

A video has emerged of the Transport and Infrastructure CS Kipchumba Murkomen dismissing a citizen who wanted to ask for a job from the outspoken CS. The CS was on a working tour at the National Transport and Safety Authority offices.

When the CS approached one of the citizens present who wanted to be served, he asked them what they were waiting for and whether they had been served.

It is at this juncture that one of the customers asked the CS for a job opportunity. This is a typical Kenyan behavior when they meet someone in power, 'mkubwa'. As soon as the man asked for the favor, the CS dismissed the man stating that 'hatupeani Kazi hapa' (we don't give out jobs here)

PR blunder

This utterance by the CS though is true could be seen as a public relations blunder by others. The CS has in the recent past been streaming his visits to institutions live on his Facebook page. This is a great way to show the public what goes n in the ministry. However, it becomes a disaster if and when the CS utters words that cannot be undone.

CS Murkomen has been touted as one of the contenders for the Kingship position. Since President Ruto rose to power, there has been an underground campaign going on to replace him. Constitutionally, the president can run for two terms only which means by 2032, he will be retiring hence the struggle to appear as a possible replacement.

Murkomen has an added advantage owing to the fact that he was appointed as a Cabinet Secretary in the powerful Roads and Infrastructure ministry.

Whether he will emerge as a possible heir is a matter that cannot be determined right away. However, he is right there on top as a possible heir to the throne.
