Sad! Why the late Rodgers Kipruto is not resting in peace, body stuck in Finland

When the opportunity study abroad presented itself, the late Rodgers Kipruto was among the cohort of students from Kenya's Uasin Gishu county who were 'lucky'.

In a program that has already been marred by confusion over whether it is a scholarship or a self sponsored program facilitated by the county, some of the students are said to be suffering in a foreign land and face deportation over non payment of school fees.

The late Rodgers Kipruto. The medical student's body is still lying at a mortuary in Finland with a bill of Ksh. 4 million needed to repatriate the body back to Kenya

The late Kipruto was among the students who left back in September 2022 for Finland and was studying at the Laurea university, Tikkurila Campus where he was pursuing nursing.

Ksh. 4 Million Bill

The Finnish authorities have asked the family of the late Kipruto to pay ksh. 4 Million failure to which his body would be disposed off in the foreign country.

According to his parents, the bill is too high and they already ran out of resources when they sold properties to send the late Kipruto to Finland.

According to a source familiar with the ongoings, the county and National governments have remained non commital despite making pronouncements that they would assist the family in repatriating their late son's body.

''It is our humble request to the county and National government to come through to help in repatriation. The Finnish authorities are finalising with the autopsy report and they will release the body to the mortuary this week.'' Said the source.

As the days go by, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the late Kipruto might not make it back to his motherland if interventions are not made.
