Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen has stated that they will be appealing Oscar Sudi's seven days detention.
The police through a miscellaneous application had sought orders from a Nakuru court to further detain the embattled Kapseret MP for seven days to finalize their investigations.
The orders were granted and the defense team is not happy about it. The vocal Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator stated through his social media handles that it was sad that their colleague had to be detained for seven days.
"It is unbelievable that Hon.Oscar Sudi is being detained for 11 days without trial in the year 2021 under our 2010 Constitution. I am very disappointed but restrained. We are appealing. Let me not say more." He posted.
Sudi, is facing charges of incitement following renarks he made while at his Kapseret home.
On his part, the MP asked his supporters and constituents to remain calm as he battles his own predicaments. He stated that Kenya is back to the dark days.
"I have always been saying that we are back to the old dark days. I urge the people of Kapseret Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, Rift Valley and Kenya at large to keep calm and maintain peace as the court process continue. Someone is determined to create a friction among locals living in Rift Valley. We will not slide back there again. Everyone knows that I am a champion of peace and I will continue preaching peace all the time. As a law abiding citizen, I will respect, obey and comply with today's court ruling." Posted Sudi.
The MPs legal team is expected to move to the high court to challenge the 7 days detention.
