News that the immediate former CEC Education and Vocational training Nandi County Ms. Valentine Chumo has been fired was received with mixed reactions. The general feeling is that she was fired for mistakes she knew nothing about.

The youthful politician first came to the limelight when she tossed herself in the political arena during the 2017 general election in which she unsuccessfully vied for the position of Woman Representative.

After the hotly contested 2017 general elections, Nandi governor Stephen Sang picked Ms. Chumo to head the department of Tourism, Culture and Social Welfare as an executive committee member. She worked at the position until Sang reshuffled his cabinet after claims of misappropriation of money emerged at the Education and Vocational Training department then headed by Stanley Baliach.

Ever since she joined the education docket, things didn't work out well for her. It later emerged that the county had lost a substantial amount of building material meant for the construction of Early Childhood centres.

This development prompted the Education Committee of the County Assembly chaired by Hon. Emmanuel to probe the matter further.  The committee recommended that she be relieved off her duties for failing to protect public property.

On her part, she insisted on her innocence claiming that she was being wrongfully accused as the matters that were being raised had occurred when she was still at the tourism department.

WHAT NEXT FOR HER?

Valentine Chumo is expected to get back to politics. She has given indications of seeking to be elected as a Woman representative, a seat currently being held by Dr. Tecla Tum. being youthful is an advantage on her side which she is expected to leverage on.

Now that she is no longer a public servant, she is expected to make inroads as she further continues to cement her own networks within the county.

"I was surprised by the sudden dismissal just like everyone else. However I've got no hard feelings and would like to thank the governor for having given me an opportunity to serve under his government." She said when contacted.

"I wish the governor the best as he strives to actualize the contents of his manifesto." Said a jovial Ms. Chumo

''On whether I'll be joining politics, I don't want to dwell on that. It is too early to make such proclamations. Right now ill be focusing on personal matters.'' Said Ms. Valentine.

What remains to be seen is the steps she'll be taking in the near future.
