Nandi; Kiplimo Rugut hints at running for governor's office

Former NYS Director General Kiplimo Rugut has given indication that he may run for Nandi's top seat.

Speaking at a Show hosted by Alfred Koech-Sergent the seasoned civil servant said that he would go for it if the people asked him.

"If the people want me to, then I'll have no other option than to comply," he said.

Mr. Kiplimo Rugut has been a career Civil servant. He started out as a teacher, became a divisional officer (DO), then a District Officer (DC) before he became a Provincial Commissioner. 

National Youth Service

He was appointed as the Director General National youth service where he served for a short period of time before being transferred to the National government as an under secretary.

NYS Scandal

"I left the NYS before the first scandal. I couldn't take any money belonging to the vulnerable young men and women. Ever since, the NYS has been a platform to train and educate youth from poor backgrounds. About 60-65% of the recruits are from poor backgrounds. Taking money from them would be quite inhuman." Said Mr. Rugut.

Anti Doping Agency Kenya (ADAK)

Mr. Kiplimo Rugut is the Current CEO ADAK. His agency is charged with ensuring that athletes run clean devoid of abuse of banned substances. The agency has been conducting campaigns aimed at sensitizing athletes on the need of "running clean races."

"Kenya has produced some of the best athletes globally. We need to protect this heritage by ensuring that our athletes avoid doping. As an agency, our mandate has been to reach out to our athletes and ensuring that they are clean." He said.

Advise to the youth

He said that the youth should protect properties and heritage inherited from parents. "Lets avoid this habit of selling our property instead we should ensure that we multiply it." Lets protect our athletic prowess." He added.

Mr. Kiplimo Rugut is banking on his long outstanding career in the civil service to endear him to the electorate.

Governor's race

The Nandi's gubernatorial race has continued to attract more aspirants. Currently, Mr. Antipas Tirop, Allan Kosgey and Stephen Sang have given indications of running for the top seat. More candidates are expected to run for the competitive seat.
